Basic Idea
• Generate/Ideate a new way to conserve or generate energy inside a house system.
• Become agents of environmental change in a planet that urges us to work in harmony with nature.
Design a product or system that is focused on the home consumer that can provide and / or supplement home power on a residential scale.
• Home solution or smaller scale that focuses on how the power is used within the home.
• Residential infrastructure style products (installed as part of the building) or stand-alone power solution products.
• The focus should be on sustainable energy solutions or a hybrid of multiple power sources.
• Should also help to give the consumer more power of independence than the current system.
What would it be like to have an ecosystem in the kitchen?
The area of the home chosen for this sustainable energy project was the kitchen. Specifically the dishwashing area.
This area was chosen because of the constant interaction between the user and the water. Hundreds of liters of water are wasted daily in dishwashing alone. Additionally, it is one of the least popular chores in the home. Nobody likes to wash dishes.
So I thought, what if we replicated the essence of an aquatic ecosystem, in order to maximize the water cycle and at the same time improve the experience when using the sink. Make cleaning a celebration of gratitude to natural resources.
Rethink the concept of a kitchen sink
• Take advantage of the full flow of water.
• To convert it into a self-sustainable energy source.
• Provide a means of harnessing the energy used.
• Creating a sensory and optical experience.
• Transform it into an alternative resource for emergencies.
• Create a means of independence from the US Grid.
